The strange begins where imagination ends. It is the voice in the wind. It is the gargoyles in the sky and the chimeras in the mist, the Lady standing on the lake. It is what the silver-bladed hunters we must become are chasing.
At fifteen, Aurel inherits an enchanted key and joins the order of Silve, high-guard of Auvoire fighting forces of the strange, including the dangerous chimeras. This new world both horrifies and amazes him at the same time. He becomes the apprentice of the illustrious Maester Artifice, and must rely on his friends and Governor Delmancia to escape the frightening Red Lady, “collector of mysteries”, as he soon discerns the threat in her interest for him. Meanwhile, Aurel searches for clues about his missing mother, but instead discovers a dream-catching machine.
